Fun Fact:
During the Classical period, the image of Hekate began to evolve. She became a goddess of magic, witchcraft, and spirit communication. In Euripides’ tragedy Medea, she appears as the patroness of witches and magical rites. In later periods, especially in Hellenistic and Roman times, her role became even more closely associated with necromancy and ritual magic. In the Papyri Graecae Magicae—Greek Magical Papyri from Roman-era Egypt—Hekate is invoked under many names and titles, such as Phosphoros (light-bringer), Kleidoukhos (key-bearer), Enodia (goddess of roads), and Chthonia(linked to the underworld).
