Fun Fact:
The goddesses acted as wardens of the underworld, serving Hades and Persephone by overseeing the eternal punishments of condemned souls. Their presence was inseparable from the darkest aspects of justice — merciless and eternal.
In some accounts, the Erinyes were equated with other personifications of vengeance and punishment. They appeared under various names and were closely associated with goddesses like the Poenae (retribution), Arae (curses), Praxidikai(executors of justice), and Maniae (madness). Their roles often overlapped, forming a complex image of goddesses embodying both terror and order.
