Interesting Fact:
Odin was primarily wise. His wisdom stemmed from an obsessive desire to understand absolutely everything. He often made sacrifices, typically self-inflicted, to gain knowledge, believing it to be worth any price. Notably, he once hung himself, was stabbed, and endured the torture of hunger to discover and understand the runes. A perhaps even better example of Odin's extreme thirst for knowledge - and the reason for his one-eyed appearance - was his journey to Mimir’s well.
Those who managed to drink from it received knowledge of everything. Thus, Odin once visited Mimir and asked for a sip. Mimir agreed to give him a taste but demanded one of Odin’s eyes in exchange. The All-Father of the Norse gods not only accepted this price but even gouged out his own eye.
