Did you know?
On Friday, October 13th, 1307, King Philip IV of France—known as Philip the Fair—ordered the arrest of the powerful Order of the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, better known as the Knights Templar. The accusations included heresy, blasphemy, and immoral practices, although modern historians, such as Malcolm Barber in his book The Trial of the Templars, emphasize that the king was primarily motivated by his debts and his desire to seize the order’s wealth.
In the years that followed, many Templars were tortured and burned at the stake. This dramatic event left a lasting mark on history—and it is often linked to the origin of the superstition that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day.
