Morrígan is one of the most powerful goddesses in Irish mythology, associated with battle, conflict, and fertility. Her name is often translated as “Queen of Spirits,” perfectly reflecting her nature.
In different sources, Morrígan appears either as a single goddess or as part of a trio of deities, which includes Badb and Nemain.
She often takes the form of a raven, and her presence on the battlefield is seen as an omen of destruction and death. Morrígan is linked to the Tuatha Dé Danann, a mythical race central to Irish legend. She played a crucial role in helping them secure victory over the Fir Bolg during the First Battle of Mag Tuired and later over the Fomorians in the Second Battle of Mag Tuired.
