In Slavic folklore, the Noonwraith appeared only when the sun was at its peak and the heat made the air shimmer.
She was said to stop field workers, confuse their thoughts, or challenge them with riddles.
In some regions people believed that to repel her, one simply had to sit in the shade and speak their own name — for the Noonwraith feared those who remembered who they were.
