In later sources, such as Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the theme of Persephone’s (Proserpina in the Roman version) abduction and transformation is portrayed with more drama and literary depth—yet it remains closely tied to the idea of change and duality: life and death, light and darkness. In Hellenistic literature, especially in the works of Callimachus and Tryphiodorus, we find more refined and psychological portrayals of Persephone as a woman undergoing inner transformation—from an innocent maiden into a queen of the underworld, not as a victim, but as one who embraces her role with dignity and strength.
