Leshy is not the gentle forest guardian people sometimes imagine.
He is a capricious woodland spirit known for leading travelers astray, twisting paths and hiding landmarks.
Those who irritated him could wander for hours, trapped in a maze of shifting trees and echoes.

To appease him, people used odd rituals:
turning clothes inside out, swapping shoes left for right, or mixing prayers with playful curses — anything to confuse or amuse the spirit.
Fortunately, Leshy was believed to sleep during winter, making cold-season forest walks far safer.
