Did you know?
The name "Łada" returns thanks to Polish Slavic scholar and historian Aleksander Brückner. Analyzing texts, Brückner referenced a work describing the founding of a Benedictine monastery on Mount Łysa. This piece was published around 1538 and includes a fragment about an ancient pagan temple that stood where the monastery is now, prior to Christianity. The temple was dedicated to deities with three names: Łada, Boda, and Leli, and local inhabitants would come to honor their gods each year at the beginning of May. The Church of the Holy Trinity on Mount Łysa was established specifically to eradicate these old beliefs, which were secretly upheld by local residents.
